We’re thrilled that the headliner for January is the great Wassie One. Wassie is a long-time stalwart of the London Roots Reggae scene and always plays up a storm. Whether in a full, traditional Soundsystem contexts, or in club environments, he can be relied upon to produce the goods.

The mighty Wassie spins a rich and wide spectrum of music of Jamaican origin, from Ska and Rocksteady “Gram Favourites”, to the hardest Roots Reggae. He’s also consistently, highly, entertaining chatting on the mic., whilst simultaneously spinning da riddims. A consummately skilled, reggaematic, entertainer you can check him, on the wheels of steel, at his penultimate show for the Dub Club or on the radio, or on his website:

Warm-up selection will come from bastion of the Club Becca, who recently wrote a memorable article for the Guardian about her passion for Reggae. Expect a carefully chosen selection of classic Ska, Rocksteady and early Reggae. Also featured on the decks will be resident selector Soft Wax. He’ll be playing a set accompanied by the usual Deptford Dub Club Crew. Expect the great Singjay artist, Doc Murdoch and guest vocalists, live. Plus a full, 3 piece horn section, live and direct, on the mic..

For this session the horns will be led by our resident saxophonist Natty P. and focusing on his self penned material. Also featured will be Trombone, our regular trombonist. We will entertain you with music of Jamaican origin, of the highest order, throughout this session. From Ska, through Rocksteady, toclassic Roots and on to contemporary Steppers. Allspun in traditional Soundsystem style, with the esteemed producer Prince Fatty providing a live mix throughout the evening.

Rocksteady will be playing all afternoon in the glorious garden. So reach early, we’ll be moving indoors and warming up the big, deep and full dub machine from 6 and running through til midnight. Skanking is a feature of this night in a convivial boozer;  put on your dancing shoes and surrender to the rhythm.
